English Learner Education

The Pascagoula-Gautier School District welcomes students and families from diverse language and cultural backgrounds. Our English Learner (EL) program helps students develop English language skills while participating fully in classroom learning. The Curriculum & Instruction Department and Federal Programs work collaboratively to support Pascagoula-Gautier School District’s English Learner program. Together, we partner with schools and families to support students’ English language development, academic learning, and access to district resources.

  • Pascagoula-Gautier School District receives Title III funds. The purpose of these funds is to promote high-quality education for English Language Learners by ensuring that limited English proficient children, including immigrant children and youth, master English and meet the same rigorous standards for academic achievement as all children are expected to meet. These standards include meeting challenging State academic content and student academic achievement standards by developing high-quality language instruction.

  • We work with schools to support English learners in listening, speaking, reading, and writing. Our goal is to help students access grade-level instruction, build confidence, and make progress in both language development and academic learning.

  • English learner support is part of our district’s work in curriculum and instruction. We partner with teachers, assistant teachers, and school leaders to strengthen instruction, provide practical resources, and address students’ language and learning needs.

  • Families are important partners in their children’s education. We encourage you to contact your child’s school with questions about EL services, student progress, or language assistance. Together, we can help students feel connected, supported, and ready to learn.
