Pascagoula, Miss. — The Pascagoula Gautier School District named the 2024-2025 Administrator, Parent and Teacher of the Year on Nov. 11, 2024.
Dr. Victoria Hoover of Martin Bluff Elementary is the Administrator of the Year, Christie Couvillion of Singing River Academy is the Parent of the Year, and Leigh Hanna of Pascagoula High School is Teacher of the Year.
Dr. Hoover is a life-long resident of our community. She is described as someone with “a clear and focused vision” that also inspires those around her. Long-term success for her staff and students is a priority, so she’s known to be a mentor to those around her. Dr. Hoover is a PHS graduate and a loving mother to five GHS graduates - her youngest is attending the high school currently. She is known for her outstanding dedication and leadership. This is her second time being honored at Administrator of the Year!
Couvillion is described as going “above and beyond in nurturing and supporting” her children. Though she did not grow up in the Mississippi Gulf Coast, she worked to become a part of the community and have selflessly dedicated hours to make the school better for students and staff since moving from Chicago. She’s contributed to countless teachers’ wishlists. And after only being in the community for a few years, she were invited to become a part of the PGSD Parent Advisory Council. Couvillion has also advocated for additional recess for resources at her children’s school - something administration, staff and students rave about.
For more than two decades, Hanna has brought strong leadership, work ethic and, most importantly, compassion to her students and fellow staff. She are committed to the success of her students - spending many Saturdays and after-school hours tutoring students for the ACT. Hanna brings warmth to every room she’s in - while fostering a positive school culture. She’s said to have true servant’s heart while promoting creative thinking in her students and making science class interactive and unforgettable.
