The Battle of the Cats! Pascagoula High and Moss Point High football players and cheerleaders gathered this morning for the traditional rivalry game breakfast. Tonight's game is the 85th edition of the tradition - and with PHS playing at home, the panthers had the pleasure of hosting the tigers.
The two schools' principals, coaches, athletic directors, superintendents and other leadership also joined in on the fun morning. PHS Coach Lewis Sims and MPHS Coach Julius Bridges reminisced on their personal and professional histories with the rivalry game, remembering their time together as coach and player.
Pascagoula Mayor Jay Willis and Moss Point Mayor Billy Knight spoke to the student athletes, both encouraging them to learn life lessons from tonight's rivalry game - win or lose. A history of the rivalry game was shared by Pascagoula's Richard Lucas. Alumni from PHS, MPHS, and Carver High School attended, as well.
PGSD is thankful to continue such a lovely tradition - where rivals can come together to celebrate community, camaraderie and something that brings us all together: football! We wish everyone a fun and safe game, but we can't leave out one last thing - GO PANTHERS!
