Dear Pascagoula-Gautier School District students, staff, and community,
Today marks my first official day as superintendent of the Pascagoula-Gautier School District, and I could not be more honored, humbled, and excited to begin this next chapter of service in a place that means so much to me.
For the past 25 years, I have had the privilege of serving PGSD in nearly every capacity, from assistant teacher to teacher, administrator, and now superintendent. This district is not just where I work; it is where I have built a life and raised a family. All three of my children graduated from PGSD schools, and now my godson and two of my grandchildren are proudly walking the same halls and being taught by the same caliber of dedicated educators who helped shape my own family.
Our district motto, Preparing Today’s Learners to Become Tomorrow’s Leaders, is more than a slogan. It is a promise, and it is personal to me. I have seen firsthand how PGSD changes lives. I have witnessed how strong relationships, high expectations, and a deep belief in our students' potential can move them from learners to leaders. And now, as superintendent, I am committed to continuing that tradition with excellence, care, and vision.
I know the strength of our district lies in the hearts and hands of our people. Our incredible students, passionate educators, dedicated staff, supportive families, and engaged community members are what make our district great. Together, we will continue to push forward, building on the foundation of excellence that has been laid and striving to make PGSD not just a great school district, but an exceptional one.
Thank you for entrusting me with this incredible responsibility. I am deeply invested in our schools, our students, and our future.
Here is to a bright year ahead.
Learners Today. Leaders Tomorrow.
With pride and purpose,
Dr. Caterria B. Payton
Superintendent
Pascagoula Gautier School District
